E.R.T. for Healthcare

E.R.T. for Healthcare is an Emergency Response Training program designed to manage high risk behavioral emergencies in the workplace. Our goal is to ensure the safety of everyone involved in crisis situations, as well as to preserve the therapeutic rapport in the helping relationship.

We accomplish this by teaching staff how to intervene while remaining focused and impartial. All of our techniques are designed to promote respect, dignity and professionalism. We address the unique needs of each facility by adapting our courses to meet the identified needs of the facility as well as by holding our workshops on-site.

E.R.T. for Healthcare teaches prevention and therapeutic management of aggressive behaviour and is completely compatible with other crisis intervention models. Our primary objectives are for participants to:

• Adhere to the principles of safe, competent and ethical care.
• Establish and maintain a therapeutic relationship with all clients, even those with a propensity to violence.
• Learn the skills and knowledge necessary to eliminate or manage the risks associated with aggression.
• Master the verbal and physical skills and techniques taught in our workshops through regular practice and with the use of our support material.

Our workshops consist of one or two day courses designed to teach intervention at the individual and team levels. Additional workshops are offered depending on the needs of the facilities. We also offer instructor certification once qualified candidates meet the requirements and complete a mentorship program.
